International AME Awards Announces 2012 Shortlist

New York, NY (PRWEB) February 21, 2012

The International AME Awards?, now in its 18th year of honoring The World?s Best Work in Advertising and Marketing Effectiveness ?, announced the Shortlist for the 2012 competition. The Grand Jury, comprised of interactive and multidisciplinary marketers, planners, and creatives, selected the Shortlist from entries submitted from 27 countries worldwide.

Entries achieving Shortlist status exhibited a trend toward social media marketing movements, with an increase in cause marketing, sustainability strategies, and community building. The Shortlist was dominated by campaigns that focused on engaged participation, public responsibility, and community activism. Brands employed crowd sourcing, word-of-mouth advertising, and even anti-advertising in their efforts to gain traction for their clients.

The 2012 AME Grand Jury had this to say about this year?s entries:

?Word of mouth advertising is gaining even more space. Creatives are trying to find the best way to make people talk and spread messages about their clients. Social Media became a pop star. Share and Like became powerful tools to spread ideas.? -Ricardo Gandolfi, Founder and Creative Director Terremoto, Brazil (North American/Latin American Grand Jury)

?Some of the best work is anti-advertising and flips traditional ad formats and celebrity endorsements around to create breakthrough,? said Robert Mitchell, Managing Director Zed Communications, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Kuwait, Oman ( Europe/Middle East & Africa Grand Jury)

?I saw a lot of campaigns linking themselves with current events, making themselves more relevant to the market,? commented Brandie Tan, Executive Creative Director BBDO Guerrero Proximity, Philippines (Asia-Pacific Grand Jury)

Strategic celebrity involvement helped achieve stellar results for the following Shortlisted entries: Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO England ?Sandwich? for Pepsico; DDB New York ?The Fabric of My Life? for Cotton Incorporated; Heimat Berlin, ?Don’t give up!? for McFit; DDB China Group, ?36 Stratagems of Streetball? for Gatorade; and Tribal DDB Worldwide, ?Brotherhood of the Grill? for Kingsford.

Project; Lowe & Partners Columbia, ?Operation Christmas? for Program for the Humanitarian Attention to the Demobilized; Grabarz & Partner Werbeagentur GmbH, ?Trojan Shirt? for EXIT-Deutschland; and Jung von Matt, ?Konzertmilch? for Dortmund Concert Hall.

Green-themed entries focusing on sustainability and conservation of natural resources also advanced to the next round: Jung von Matt, Germany, ?Save as WWF? for WWF; DDB Canada / Vancouver, ?BC Hydro? for Power Smart; and Critical Mass, USA, ?The New Car? for Nissan LEAF.

Germany did exceptionally well in this year?s competition with 26 entries achieving Shortlist status. And social media once again played a major role, with multiple entries mobilizing community support including: Kempertrautmann GmbH, Hamburg?s entry Initiative Deutschland findet Euch (?The Missing Child?)? for Initiative Vermisste Kinder (?Missing Children?s Initiative?). The campaign used Facebook, interactive maps, and community activism to initiate the largest-ever search party for missing children. Ogilvy Frankfurt?s entry, ?Frankfurt Builds the New Staedel? rallied the people of the city to act as ambassadors for the Museum?s 5 million-dollar expansion project. Jung von Matt, Hamburg created ?Club der T?chter? for client Nike, reinterpreting the brand for young women by initiating a virtual Facebook running club that brought together over 6000 women in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Reinclassen GmbH & Co. KG, Hamburg?s ?I Push for You? for Hochbahn public transit system reinforced the public?s overall feeling of safety and bolstered civic courage after recent attacks.

12 entries from the United States were selected for the Shortlist, along with 11 from Canada, 6 from Japan, 4 from Australia, and 2 from England. China, Columbia, France, and the Netherlands were each recognized with a single Shortlist entry.

A Voice Talent’s Guide To Voice Over Training

Between a Hollywood superstar and a voice actor, the latter realistically works harder. It’s real tough for him to convey feelings and emotions while reading, fully knowing that he will not be seen on the screen. He must get into the skin of the character and pump life into the dialogues. This is where voice over training comes into play.

Voice over training aids voice actors understand the craft and find gainful employment in a growing area. There are 1000s of cartoon and animated TV shows, web shows, TV/radio advertisements, web videos, and movies being made regularly. Moreover, each movie/TV show has a cast of more than 20-30 characters. There are global opportunities galore for a voice actor.

Basic skills needed to join a voice over training course

One of the most important tools of the trade is diction. The student must have perfect enunciation and therefore must attend speech classes to get his diction properly. Every voice over actor has two roles to fulfill – “lending voice” and “acting.” So, perfect diction is not enough to begin voice over training – the student must also enroll in an acting course prior to joining the voice over course.

What does a voiceover training course teach?

The student learns how to evaluate and interpret commercial copy for announcer and real-person roles. Interpreting narrative copy, as well as technical copy, are learned as well. The course teaches the student how to proficiently coordinate mind, mouth and voice so that he can sound true to his character. Taking direction is also learned by the student.

Reading, recording, play back, and listening are done over and over again in an excellent voice talent training course. This is done in order for students to get it right. Students learn techniques such as inflection, timing and articulation. They perform warm-ups and vocal exercises as well. They figure out how to preserve their vocal health. When students are already half-way into the voice over training program, they become skilled at using and adjusting pitch, tone, volume and delivery speed to meet the needs of numerous types of jobs.

After the main training is over, students learn how to promote their skills, tap the appropriate contacts, and get voice over work. Instructors of the voice over program also assist them in creating a voice over demo, which would become part of their portfolio. An opportunity to experience working in a real studio is offered in a solid voice over training course for students. They also learn what the do’s and don’ts are whenever they are behind the microphone or in a sound booth.

Choosing a voice over training course

There are two facets to voice training. Students who are interested in selling must opt for a commercial voice over course. Commercial voice overs are used for selling. TV advertisements, radio ads, phone and other media feature these voice overs. The voice over course also addresses selling skills because all commercial voice overs sell a product or a service. This program does not include acting skills. Students who are interested in showbiz must decide on a TV and movie voice over and dubbing program. Such courses require lip-synching, and so the voice over actor has to learn acting skillsets too.

To conclude, all the world’s a stage and we must play a part. So, if you want to play your part as a voice actor, enroll for a reputed voice actor training program and learn how to raise your voice.

Beware of Valentine’s Day Malware Distribution Campaigns, Warns Aware Bear Computer Repair

Rochester, New York (PRWEB) February 13, 2012

?Social networking sites are the cyber pirates preferred technique for deceiving users, primarily obtaining confidential information from users by convincing them to take a series of actions. This includes credit card information, personal data and bank related information used for identity theft and other cyber crimes? mentions Andre Alves from Rochester New York, Andre is the owner and founder of Aware Bear Computer Repair.

Cyber pirates are also exploiting other channels such as Facebook, Twitter or Google+, Myspace, Orkut and with their access to millions of users that these social networks websites. These websites have become just as popular among the online criminal community for spreading malware and spyware. Malware and Spyware are forms of viruses that install into a computer and record the users? activity; later these programs send a log back to the original online thief that has enough information to start doing identity theft and other online crimes.

A new Facebook virus attack that takes advantage of users? walls to spread has recently been discovered. ?An apparently harmless message invites users to install a Valentine?s Day theme on Facebook but when the user clicks the wall post, they are redirected to a page where they are prompted to install the theme. This installs a malware file which, once run, displays ads from other websites. It also downloads an extension that monitors Web activities and redirects sessions to survey pages that request sensitive information like phone numbers? mentions Panda Antivirus Software.

Aware Bear Computer Repair blog previously reported on a suspicious Black Friday virus going around many computers and doing identity theft. This virus was being spread by social media sites and also by email messages. Following are several examples of Valentine?s Day-themed malware campaigns detected by Aware Bear Computer Repair in recent years using the Panda Antivirus Software:

?Waledac.C: This worm, spread by email, tried to pass itself off as a greeting card and included a malicious link to access it. If the user clicked the link and accepted the subsequent file download, they were allowed the Waledac.C worm into their computer. Once it infected the computer, the worm used the affected user?s email to send out spam.

I Love.exe you: This was a RAT (Remote Access Trojan) that gave attackers access to the victim?s computer and all their personal information. The Trojan allowed the virus creator to access target computers remotely, steal passwords and manage files.

Nuwar.OL: This worm spread in email messages with subjects like ?I Love You So Much,? ?Inside My Heart? or ?You in My Dreams.? The text of the email included a link to a website that downloaded the malicious code. The page was very simple and looked like a romantic greeting card with a large pink heart. Once it infected a computer, the worm sent out a large amount of emails, creating a heavy load on networks and slowing down computers. Following is a screenshot of a website that downloaded the Nuwar.OL worm: http://prensa.pandasecurity.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/NuwarOL.jpg

Valentin.E: This worm spread by email with subjects like ?Searching for True Love? or ?True Love? and an attached file called ?friends4u.? If the targeted user opened the file, a copy of the worm was downloaded. The worm then sent out emails with copies of itself from the infected computer to spread and infect more users. Following is a screenshot of the desktop wallpaper displayed by Valentin.E: http://prensa.pandasecurity.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Valentin.E.jpg

Storm Worm: This worm spread via email by employing a number of lures, one of them exploiting Valentine?s Day. If the targeted user clicked the link in the email, a Web page was displayed while the worm was downloaded in the background. Following is a screenshot of the web page displayed by Storm Worm: http://prensa.pandasecurity.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/STORMWORM.jpg? according to PandaLabs virus scan logs.

PandaLabs offers computer users a series of tips to avoid falling victim to computer threats:

Do not open emails or messages received on social networks from unknown senders.
Do not click any links included in email messages, even though they may come from reliable sources. It is better to type the URL directly in the browser. This rule applies to messages received through any mail client, as well as those in Facebook, Twitter, or other social networks or messaging applications, etc. If you do click on any such links, take a close look at the page you arrive at and if you don?t recognize it, close your browser.
Do not run attached files that come from unknown sources. Stay on alert for files that claim to be Valentine Day?s greeting cards, romantic videos, etc.
Even if the page seems legitimate, but asks you to download something, you should be suspicious and not accept the download. If you download and install any type of executable file and you begin to see unusual messages on your computer, you have likely been infected with malware.
If you are making any purchases online, type the address of the store in the browser, rather than going through any links that have been sent to you. Only buy online from sites that have a solid reputation and offer secure transactions, encrypting all information that is entered in the page.
Do not use shared or public computers or an unsecured WiFi connection for making transactions or operations that require you to enter passwords or other personal details.
Have an effective security solution installed, capable of detecting both known and new malware strains.
